The Honest Company is the brainchild of two parents; Christopher Gavigan and Golden Globe-nominated actress, Jessica Alba. The brand, which offers a huge selection of products aimed largely at babies and new moms and dads, is united by one simple core value – to provide the U.S. with ethically sourced, non-toxic products.

Inspired by Parenting

Jessica Alba was motivated to start the brand after the birth of her first child in 2008. She found it difficult to source products that weren’t full of chemicals or in some way damaging to the environment, so she began to design her own. Joining forces with Christopher Gavigan, they recognized that there were toxic risks in a variety of products for babies, and even discovered that some of the chemicals used in these products had been linked to asthma, ADHD and even cancer. In 2011, the Honest Company launched, with just 17 products in its range. By 2013, sales equaled $50 million. The following year, this had grown to $170 million.

Company Values

Alba and Gavigan put their fundamental values at the core of everything they do – including honesty, social goodness and providing support for new parents. Their range now features hundreds of items, including eco-friendly diapers, breast and formula feeding products, vitamins for children and their parents, and even environmentally safe cleaning products. Additionally, the Honest Company sells a variety of furniture for the nursery, including cribs, dressers and diaper caddies, strollers, and specially designed handbags with compartments for diapers and wipes.

Luxury U.S. Brand

The Honest Company is certainly an organization with a difference, and it epitomizes its eco-friendly, socially responsible values in everything it does.
